School Outreach

The museum offers free educational opportunities for students across Sweetwater County, including:

  • Museum gallery tours
  • In-class presentations
  • Education Kits — bring the museum to your classroom

To request a tour, presentation, or Education Kit, please contact the museum.

Pre-school Outreach

The museum offers a hands-on animal program designed specifically for preschool classrooms. Children explore textures, compare objects (“big/little,” “inside/outside,” “hard/soft”), and learn through real examples like a buffalo pelt.

To schedule a preschool program, call 307-872-6435.

3rd Grade History Fair

The museum has transformed its traditional 3rd-grade tours into an interactive History Fair that brings history to life through hands-on stations and activities. It is typically held during the second week of May.

Other grades may request traditional gallery tours at any time.

Homeschool Outreach

The museum offers in-person programs for multiple age groups in homeschool families throughout Sweetwater County. Programs are held in the museum’s classroom and can be adapted for scout groups and other organizations.

Please note: Homeschool students may participate in the 3rd Grade History Fair. Contact the museum to be included.

Popular homeschool program topics include:

  • Cold War at Home (older students)
  • Sweetwater County Animals (younger students)
  • How the Rock Cycle influenced Native American settlement
  • Chinese New Year
  • Sweetwater County History overview
  • Lake Gosiute and Trona
  • Dinosaurs and Ancient Creatures (includes a real dinosaur bone)
  • Westward Expansion (can include an Education Kit)
